Summer Couples Days Out in Cornwall
We all take a little while to unwind when we arrive at our holiday destination, but the relaxed luxury of The Headland, set against the soothing sound of the sea, will guarantee to calm the busiest of minds. Once you’re settled in and eager to explore the surrounding area, there is an adventure waiting for you at every turn in our beautiful county. Here we list a few great days out ideal for couples as recommended by Head Concierge – Sarah Gaskin.
Guided vineyard tours take place at 10:30am, Monday-Friday. Learn about the growing season of the vines and have a look around the winery. You’ll find out how grapes are transformed into award-winning wines and it includes a tasting of four flagship wines after the two-hour tour.
Hold on tight for a high-speed ride of over 50kph through the notoriously rough sea conditions of the UK’s surf & adrenaline capital Newquay. It really is the ultimate high-speed adventure - be prepared to get wet and have some laughs!
Powering out of Newquay harbour, the boat does a sweep of the bay and travels along the North Cornwall coastline towards Watergate Bay to smash up some waves. The surroundings are awesome - as is the energy on board.
There’s a challenging 18-hole Par 3 course which overlooks the spectacular Gull Rock or, for the novice golfers, there’s a fun 18-hole pitch and putt. Either course will provide a fantastic morning or afternoon of entertainment.
Day trip to St Ives and dinner at one of the many gorgeous restaurants. You can also hire a self-drive boat to bob around the harbour.
A magnificent Victorian family home near Bodmin which has three routes to explore. The beautiful garden surrounding the house provides year-round colour or discover the wider estate with 900 acres of parkland, ancient woodland and riverside walks to explore.
St Michael's Mount is a tidal island, home to an historic castle, in Mount’s Bay near Penzance. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water. A wonderful way to spend a morning.
Eden Project’s Zip Wire – A full-on adrenaline trip not for the faint hearted. Thought to be England’s fastest zip wire, you can also tackle an aerial assault course and plummet over a cliff edge in a giant swing.
All the above activities and attractions are within an hour’s drive of The Headland, and some can be enjoyed within a matter of minutes by car.
