Headland Hotel Thanks Summer Staff With Their Own ‘Graduation Ceremony’
Cornwall’s luxury five-star The Headland hotel has held a graduation ceremony to say thank you to a group of students who worked throughout the summer holidays.
Hosted by The Armstrong Family and Vedette Peaker, HR Manager, the celebratory event saw the students come along with a parent/guardian to enjoy morning coffee and cakes as reward for their efforts.
“As a hotel we wanted to formally thank the students for their fantastic contribution and commitment over the summer holidays,” said Veryan Palmer, Director.
“From our perspective they were a joy to have with the team and really worked so well alongside all the staff. By ensuring they had a gentle introduction into hospitality this summer we hope that many more young people will consider hospitality as a vibrant and fun potential career. We are so pleased that over thirty students have confirmed they wish to continue their training at The Headland over October half term and long into the future.”
The hotel received extremely positive feedback from the guests about the polite and friendly approach of the students, who all received certificates at the ceremony to mark their contribution.
Donna Breakspear, mother of Ellis, a student who attended the ceremony, said: “This has been a great opportunity following a period of uncertainty through the COVID pandemic.
“All the students were treated exactly the same as permanent employees, including a comprehensive induction and training programme.
“Through this opportunity, we’ve seen Ellis grow in confidence, maturity and develop a strong work ethic whilst gaining fabulous experience,” she added.
The Headland will be welcoming more applicants aged 14 to 17 years old to their young person summer placement scheme next year, with interviews commencing in April 2022. Please contact recruitment@headlandhotel.co.uk for more information.
