The Headland Reintroduces ANPR Parking
We will shortly be reinstalling ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras and a parking warden at the hotel’s private car park to combat the challenges of car parking by visitors who are not using the hotel facilities.
The decision comes after increasing challenges caused by the overuse of the car park by visitors who are not visiting the hotel but heading down to the beach or out for a walk, which has led to rising maintenance costs and limited parking availability for the guests, members and team.
Recent data highlights the scale of the issue: on January 2nd alone, during the day, over 1,900 vehicles used the car park, the majority of which did not set foot in the hotel but left on foot from their car to other destinations.
This high level of usage is resulting in significant wear and tear on the private road and facilities requiring regular costly maintenance and repair work.
Jason Adams, Managing Director said: “This decision was not made lightly. Maintaining our car park has become increasingly unsustainable in recent years due to its overuse by visitors not using the hotel facilities. The lack of available parking for actual hotel users is being seen across the year, including the quieter winter months, requiring us to take action. We close the ocean facing car as much as possible, to protect the vistas from Pentire and the beach for local residents and hotel guests, as following a recent planning application we appreciate how much this means to local people.”
“By implementing these measures, we can continue to provide a high-quality experience for our guests while focusing our resources on the many ways we contribute to the community. ”
For the cost of two coffees and a slice of cake (a minimum spend of £10) you will be able to park at the iconic hotel for up to two hours. Visitors using the spa, restaurants or AquaClub will be able to utilise their visiting spend to cover the £10 minimum per car.
Residents, patrons of the hotel, Ocean Club members and Headland team members will be given complimentary parking, via registering their vehicles.
New signage will be displayed around the car park shortly outlining the terms of parking.
