Headland Balloon scoops 1st prize at International Balloon Festival

John Armstrong and the hotel balloon, The Headland Centennial, achieved a coup by scooping first prize at the highly renowned ‘International Festival of Ballooning', in Château-d'Oex, Switzerland.  After competing in several precision flying events, Armstrong scored very highly in the touch-and-go, to obtain the maximum points, which led to him winning the overall competition, beating pilots and teams from all over the world.  He passed the monumental landmark of over one thousand hours as a hot air balloon pilot during his winning flight, and says "I was delighted to finally win this prestigious first prize, after 26 years of high alpine ballooning.  The balloon artwork proudly states ‘Headland Hotel Newquay', and I am thrilled to promote the hotel and the Cornwall on such a large scale".  Armstrong flew several Swiss journalists during his 10 days in the Alps, who produced two short films, which have been released globally for viewing.  Click here to see the films.
